The second wine of Château Cantenac Brown is produced from younger vines but mostly from carefully selected parcels within the vineyard of Cantenac Brown. Indeed, in the early seventies the vineyard of Cantenac Brown was extended with the acquisition of land located in the villages of Cantenac and Soussans. This acquired vineyard which now forms the heart of Brio was replanted then. More accessible than Cantenac Brown, the wine of Brio is fresh and fruit driven, with a classic Margaux elegance. Grape varieties: 56% Cabernet Sauvignon, 32% Merlot, 12% Cabernet Franc. Tasting notes: The 2008 Brio de Cantenac Brown is today very pleasant to drink. After more than 4 years of bottle ageing, it is still a young wine but it already delivers complex aromas of pepper, coal, mocha, ripe black fruit and lovely hints of vanilla. The mouth is very elegant, with polished tannins and a fresh, minty finish. It has enough elegance to accompany delicate food like poultry and fish and enough structure and body to match richer and tastier, even spicy dishes.
