Built in Roman times, Château de Bord in the village of Laudun belonged to the Brotte family, who saw incredible potential in its surrounding vines. Situated on a south-facing hillside, the vineyard is spread over 22 hectares of terraces. Its soil is a well-drained mixture of clay and limestone and is rich in fossils of oysters and other shells left by the retreating sea in the Mesozoic Era, some 250 to 65 million years ago. Vinification: The Syrah is harvested at perfect maturity and the Grenache at a stage of over-maturity. Tasting notes: Colour – Deep ruby. Nose – A delicate expression of violets, ripe black fruits and wild thyme with hints of coffee. Palate – Full, round and elegant with soft but detectable tannins. The aromas of wild berries and dark cherry follow through the nose perfectly, offering a surprisingly long finish. Grape varieties: Grenache, Syrah. Serving: Serve at 17°C. Enjoy with wild mushroom risotto, steak tartare, veal and black olive stew, Beef with truffles or for dessert with chocolate fondant.
