Château Villa Bel-Air is located in the village of Saint-Morillon, in the heart of the Graves appellation. This magnificent 18th century property was bought by Jean-Michel Cazes and his family who undertook from 1988 a complete restructuring of vineyards and facilities techniques. The vines are now benefiting from more advanced techniques but are grown in compliance with ancestral traditions. Château Villa Bel-Air today produces white and red wines illustrating the subtlety and complexity of Graves wines. The property is situated on a beautiful gravelly soil, of compound Garonne gravel, resting on a basement of ferruginous clay and limestone. It benefits from a favourable microclimate, protected from the weather by the pine forest that surrounds it, and its position near the Garonne provides aeration and shelter from the hot weather and excess moisture. The grapes are naturally beautiful and healthy, and ripen in excellent conditions in the warm and sunny month of August, which promotes skin maturity and the concentration of flavours. The Indian summer optimises the best alcohol/acid balance of each grape. Sauvignon and Sémillon have retained their varietal expression, while their fermentation in barrels reveal all the complexity of this beautiful land. Blend: 65% Sauvignon, 35% Sémillon. Vinification: After pressing, the juice is fermented in oak barrels at low temperature. Fermentation in barrels and aging on yeast lees in 30% new wood. Tasting notes: Pale green, delicate nose with white peach and magnolia flower and a buttered final.
